Portfolio: The Cloudlift Bench
March 12, 2008
The Cloudlift Bench.
The seat of this bench is a shape refered to as the cloudlift, which is common in Asian furniture. It was also used frequently by the early 20th century American architects Charles and Henry Greene. It is actually inverted here, from its traditional use.
The bench shown here is made from cherry wood, but it can also be made in walnut, maple and other woods.
44 inches long x 17 high x 10.5 deep
The cost to commission a similar bench is $500 in Oregon maple, $650 in cherry, $750 in Western walnut. Inquire about other possibilities.
