Update: Slant-front desk
January 11, 2010
The desk/carcass part is pretty much built, though there are a few details to take care of and then some sanding and a finish to put on. Now I’m putting the stand together. You’ll see four rails and four legs here, but there will actually be a second set of rails on three sides (all but the front) that will be lower.
- The fall front is finished and attached
- Here it is open. (Now that there’s a little more time, I’m doing a couple interior drawers –that’s what all those loose pieces are inside.)
- Getting the stand roughed out. A little blocky here. There will be some shaping that happens to the legs.
- Checking the fit on the stand.

Always have been a fan, what have you been up to recently? Have you lost the woodworking bug?
Well, I’m still plugging away … very slowly, though. We’ve have a baby and a 3 year old who take up a lot of our time, so woodworking has slowed to a crawl. But I still have the bug, as you say. This desk has been very slow going, but I’ll try to post an update in the next couple of weeks. I’ve made some progress since these photos were taken. But, yes, with a day job and the kids, the shop is sometimes neglected. Thanks so much for checking in! I appreciate it.
